Yellow Flame on Your Gas Stove? Here Is How to Fix It
A gas flame should burn crisp blue with a whisper. Yellow, lazy flames mean incomplete combustion: wasted gas, blackened pots and more fumes in your kitchen.
The ten-minute fix
- Cool the stove fully and lift off the trivets and burner caps.
- Brush the burner ports with an old toothbrush; clear blocked holes with a pin — never a toothpick that can snap inside.
- Wash caps in soapy water, dry completely, and refit seated flat.
- Still yellow? The air shutter needs adjusting or the regulator pressure is off — that is a technician job.
Prevention
Wipe spills before they carbonise. Brass-burner stoves like the Shanghai Superior Quality 2-Burner Stainless Steel Tabletop Gas Stove hold their tune far longer than aluminium ones. If yours is past saving, see Stoves.
